The Cookbook (2022)
Lady in the Water is a 2006 American fantasy psychological thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film features a starring cast of Paul Giamatti and Bryce Dallas Howard. The film's plot concerns the superintendent of a Philadelphia apartment complex who discovers a young woman in the swimming pool. She explains that she is there to find the Writer, a man whose mind must be awakened by her so that he can write a book that will ultimately lead to humanity's salvation. The writer in question is Vick Ran, played by Shyamalan, who is struggling to complete a book called The Cookbook. Vick learns that his words are so powerful that they will inspire a great orator, who will eventually become president of the United States. Vick also learns that his words are so powerful that he will be assassinated for writing them, which will only serve to further amplify their influence.
It is Shyamalan's first film not distributed by Walt Disney Studios under Touchstone Pictures.
