A Game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind (2023)
I've wanted to make this for a while, and I'm glad I finally did!
It really made me sit down and define what I call, "Los Angeles Dances of Water and Power” (aka ‘the spider dance’). The idea came to be after starting to research about the LA River and Aqueduct. I learned that Los Angeles is a site of Chosen Armagaeddon. Los Angeles has done everything in its power to defy nature in favor of the film industry.
The building process really tested my dedication to myself. It's the longest period of time I've spent on a single sculpture. It represents why I dance, why I choose art, and my relationship to my body, water, and the city. Its truly a blessing to live in this web. I hope all my friends can see a bit of themselves in this.
The outer edge is composed of 120 ai-generated oil paintings, (midjourney and dalle). Some of the prompts include,
